All the games for PS2, PS1 and PSP were duplicated by various method used by the hackers. A chip was designed which was capable of playing copied DVD games on PS2, avalable for price less then a single original PS2 DVD. When PS2 was released in the market the hardware was hacked within a month from it’s release.

As per the latest news, Sony’s PlayStation 3 was released in November in 2006 and yet there is no use of pirated PS3 games (which are available for download via torrents). The main reason behind this is that it has not yet been modded or hacked to support the pirated or duplicated games (As Sony has stepped on step furthor in stopping piracy). The price of PS3 was quite high and a person could even buy a light gaming PC in that price. If a person could afford to buy a PS3 then it would not have been tough to buy its games.

It is a very complex console and uses Blu-Ray media for games. The Blu-ray writers are very expensive due to that reason no body has yet tried to mod or hack the PS3. Sony is trying it’s best to prevent piracy and has somewhat succeeded in it. As per me, you would not see pirated version of PS3 until it is hacked or modded by some engineer. You will have to wait for the fall of price of Blu-Ray Writers so that someone takes the initiative copying the games and designing a modcip to pay them. My Suggestion- I would highly recommend you stick with the official PS3 otherwise it will void the warranty of Sony PS3 and if anything oges wrong it would be a thrash!
